Education conference event photography. I’ve been working with Surrey Music Hub over the years capturing their music education workshops and events. They offer support to teachers working with children with disabilities. Annual conferences have been held at Richmix in East London to the beachside town of Brighton. I love how interactive and up tempo the events are and hopefully the photography captures the energy in the room!
Here's a backdated blog post on the Sunday times festival of education I photographed in 2014! This event has a special place in my heart as my brief was to photograph every speaker on the program. And if you've ever been to wellington college over in Berkshire it's a rather large school campus. I was running around like a headless chicken from one end to the other in each 30minute slot.
Aside from the heat exhaustion, it was a great education event with a packed program of celebrity speakers, teachers, and political figures from around the United Kingdom.
I spent two days as the official event photographer, photographing all the exhibitors and delegates interacting and networking in all spaces. It was important to capture the branding of all the festival sponsors in an engaging way that showed the spirit of the event. Sometimes it requires a little patience and waiting for that perfect moment to happen.
Here are some highlights:
1. Claridges: Luxury event space
Claridges offers a classic London experience with it's Art Deco ballroom available for hire in a central location. I've photographed many breakfast meetings in their ballroom and the place really does give a level of sophistication and luxury. The event space can be used for sit down meals to workshop areas and presentations.

2. Park Plaza London Hotel Group 7 locations: Victoria, Westminster Bridge, London Riverbank, County Hall, Sherlock Holmes, Waterloo, Park Royal
The park plaza hotel group have 7 locations throughout central, south, west and east London. They all have their unique qualities. For instance I've photographed a conference at park plaza Westminster bridge because delegates were then taken on the London eye for part of the day and the location was perfect. You can access the website to view the different capacity options, guest rooms on offer and attractions close by. All locations are perfect for delegates travelling from overseas with direct access to all the major airports and transport network.

3. The Kensington Hotel: Boutique event and meeting space
Choose between a number of boutique meeting spaces including The white Room, The Study or Townhouse. I've given you guys this as an option as the hotel offers lovely natural light that really does help create professional conference photography. So many venues are underground in dark spaces and the Kensington hotel offers a modern environment. Subsequently your event photography will look modern and give a unique look.
4. The Dorchester Hotel: Meeting and event space for conferences
Because London can, here's anther luxury hotel option based over in Mayfair. The Dorchester Hotel just breeds prestige and is an option if you want a high end venue.
This years KN UK leadership and management conference was held at the De Vere Beaumont Estate near Windsor on the outskirts of London. The conference guest speaker was BBC personality Steph McGovern who opened the conference and guided the talks and presentations over the 2 days.
As far as event and conference photography, my brief was to capture all aspects of the conference. Delivering some promo images for use on social media and on the big screens for day 2 followed by the rest soon afterwards.
The KN conferences are always varied with a whole range of activities and presentations. They are keen to get colleagues off their seats and move around, network and emphasise interaction and cooperation. I like my conference photography to document all the events that occur whilst capturing images that are engaging and capture the energy of the room.
Sometimes the low light aspect of these large conference spaces can create really nice cinematic effects. Crating beautiful silhouette shots that look great for a more unique, creative look.
As an experienced corporate conference photographer I make sure I get the following images:
Wide shots to show scale and scene
Photographs in varying sizes of all speakers (portrait and landscape)
Business networking images of delegates interacting
Brand logos and set up shots of all print displays and monitor displays
Exterior shot of the venue and outside conference branding
Group shots and posed portraits to camera
Delegates enjoying themselves and environmental photography
Photographs showing motion and flow.
Photographs of awards on a clean background
Above all, the pre production chat between myself and the client is the most important in pinning down any must get shots and deciding upon a photography brief! It's all about communication. I pretty much know what you need as I have photographed many conferences and events. I'm an easy going photographer and can adapt to any situation which is key to overcoming obstacles on the day. Hiring an experienced photographer means you can rest assure and continue with that all important to do list!

Midlands Conference Photographer
As a leading UK conference photographer I have experience working alongside global companies and organisations. I am invited to annual conferences to capture often a series of days that involve workshops, networking, dinners and awards celebrations.
This year, the KN annual leadership conference was held at the holiday inn Stratford upon Avon which is a great venue for this size of conference. I believe colleagues fly into the midlands airport from Germany, France and Switzerland among many EU countries.
As their official conference event photographer the company and I have worked together for a number of years. This was one our first events together, and wow, they know how to throw a varied conference. Natalie, the then head of UK communications briefed my on all the conference photography they required. Starting with set up shots of the space and branding materials. Documenting the presentation materials and stage to workshop rooms and displays. We needed to capture every speaker on stage, in a varying format of portrait and landscape shots. I also have in the back of mind that photography will be used across a number of platforms, whether print, social media or in corporate brochures. Images, hence need to offer variance in terms of composition and use of negative space. Something I do without thinking.
The conference lasted a couple of days. I stayed on location at the hotel ensuring I was there on time for when the conference began the next day. The last thing you need is to be stuck in traffic somewhere and miss the morning presentations!
